Why This Thread Performs on Production Lines
Most metallic thread problems are not colour problems. They are winding, tension and film problems that only show up on the machine. This set was built around those three points.
One Set, 48 Fixed Shades
A single SKU covers the decorative palette most workshops actually use, silver through gold, copper, rose, wine, forest and midnight tones. Buyers stop splitting one order across three suppliers, and pickers stop hunting for the missing shade in the middle of a run.
500 M Per Mini Spool
Long enough for a full production run, small enough that a colour change does not leave 400 m idle on the cone. For sampling rooms and multi-colour logo work, that is the difference between a clean set-up and a shelf of half-used spools.
150D Fine-Gauge Metallic Film
The 150D construction keeps the thread soft enough to turn tight corners in small lettering, monograms and fine outlines. The metallic segments are cut short and wrapped at regular intervals, so the light breaks into points rather than one flat sheet of shine. On dark fabric this reads as starlight, which photographs well and sells well.
Round-Covered, Even-Tension Winding
Uneven winding is the usual reason a metallic thread snaps two hours into a shift. The spools are wound at controlled tension over a round-covered core, so the thread leaves the spool without slubs or tension spikes. Combined with a size 12 to 14 metallic needle and a slightly reduced upper tension, break rates stay low enough for continuous running.
Machine And Hand, One Article
The same spool runs on a home embroidery machine, a single-head commercial machine, a household sewing machine for decorative topstitching, and by hand. That means one article serves both your machine-embroidery customers and your hand-craft buyers, with no second SKU to forecast.
Retail-Ready Packaging
Shipped as a plain 48-spool set, or with a wooden display rack that turns it into a gift-box product. Private label printing is available on the sleeve, the box and the rack card, so a distributor can put the set on a shelf without repacking.

This set goes to buyers who need metallic effect at repeatable quality, not one-off sparkle.

Request a Quote or a Color Card
Tell us the colour count, spool length, packaging and destination port. We reply within 24 hours with price, MOQ and lead time, and we can send a physical colour card so you match shades on the real thread rather than on a screen.
Five problems come up in almost every metallic thread enquiry. Here is how this set addresses each of them.
Thread breaks at speed. Round-covered construction, controlled winding, and a published needle range of 12 to 14 remove the two most common causes: friction at the eye and tension spikes from slubbed winding.
Shade drift between batches. In-house dyeing and a retained-sample system mean a repeat order matches the first shipment. Buyers stop re-approving lab dips for colours they already sell.
Film flaking after washing. The metallic film is checked before wrapping, and every shipment carries care guidance: cold water, mild detergent, no chlorine bleach, iron on the reverse at low temperature.
Incomplete palettes. 48 fixed shades cover the decorative range in one order, and custom colour matching is available when a brand needs an exact tone.
Small orders refused elsewhere. Mixed-colour trial orders are accepted, so a distributor can test a market before committing to a full programme.
Applications and finishing results
Cap and beanie logos, denim back pockets and jacket backs, badges and woven labels, sportswear trim and sponsor marks, home textile borders and cushion piping, Christmas and holiday decor, bridal veils and sashes, shoe and bag embroidery, and hand-worked art pieces.
The visible result is directional sparkle: because the film is cut into short segments, the reflection changes as the fabric moves or the light shifts. Flat embroidery gains depth, dark fabric gains contrast, and photographed product shots gain a highlight that plain polyester thread cannot produce.
Usage, needle and care guidance
Use a size 12 to 14 metallic or sharp-point needle. Reduce upper tension by roughly 10 to 15 percent compared with standard polyester thread. Run a test piece at your normal speed before a bulk run, and slow down on dense designs and tight lettering. Wash finished embroidery in cold water with mild detergent, avoid chlorine bleach and optical brighteners, and iron on the reverse at low temperature. Store spools in the original bag, away from direct sunlight and high humidity.
About The Manufacturer
Hangzhou Sakura Thread Co., Ltd. has been manufacturing embroidery thread since 1992. The plant covers 100 acres in Lin'an, Hangzhou, with fixed assets of RMB 250 million, 455 production staff, 22 production and management lines, a 15,000 square metre warehouse and an annual output of more than 5,000 tons. Fifty senior inspectors cover five quality control links from raw yarn to packed carton.
We are a thread manufacturer, not a trading company. Dyeing runs in house on 30 dyeing machines, winding on 70 winding machines, and the yarn is prepared on 180 drum machines, which is why a repeat order can be matched to a retained sample instead of a photograph. Products are exported to more than 60 countries across Europe, North America, Southeast Asia, the Middle East and South Africa.

Quality documentation includes ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certification, OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100 for the polyester and rayon series, GRS scope certification for recycled polyester, and Intertek test reports. Colour-matching accuracy is held above 95 percent, and each shipment is traceable to its production batch.
We exhibit at CISMA in Shanghai and Texprocess, and have met buyers at shows in Dubai, Ho Chi Minh City and Hong Kong. For distributors, we supply agent pricing, a full colour card, inspection reports and marketing material; for brand owners, we run private label programmes from spool print to gift box.

FAQ
1. What is the MOQ for this 48-color metallic embroidery thread set?
MOQ depends on whether you take the standard assortment or a custom colour mix. Standard sets ship from stock in small quantities so you can test the market; custom colour assortments and private label packaging carry a higher minimum. Send us your target quantity and destination port and we will quote the exact MOQ and price break.
2. What is metallic embroidery thread made of?
It is a 150D polyester filament core, round covered with cut metallized polyester film at regular intervals. The film provides the shimmer; the filament core carries the tensile load. This construction keeps the thread flexible enough for fine lettering while still holding up on a machine.
3. What needle size should I use, and will it run on my machine?
Use size 12 to 14, either a metallic needle or a sharp point. The set runs on domestic and single-head embroidery machines, household sewing machines and hand work. Reduce upper tension by about 10 to 15 percent compared with normal polyester thread, and always run a test piece before a bulk run.
4. Why does metallic thread break, and how do you control it?
Breakage usually comes from three things: uneven winding causing tension spikes, a needle that is too small or blunt, and heat build-up at high speed. Our spools are wound at controlled tension over a round-covered core, and we publish the needle range so operators set the machine correctly. If you tell us your machine model and design density, our technique team will suggest speed and tension settings.
5. How do you keep colours consistent between repeat orders?
Colour is matched in house on our own dyeing lines against retained samples, not against photos or screen rendering. Repeat orders are matched to the original approved sample and to the same production batch record. Colour-matching accuracy is held above 95 percent.
6. Is the thread certified, and is it washable?
The plant holds ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100 and GRS scope certification, and we can supply test reports with the shipment. The thread is washable: cold water, mild detergent, no chlorine bleach or optical brighteners, and iron on the reverse at low temperature. For industrial laundry programmes, request a wash test on your fabric before committing to bulk.
7. Can you customise the colour assortment, spool and packaging?
Yes. We can build a set from your own colour list, change the spool colour, print your logo on the spool, sleeve, gift box and rack card, and pack with or without the wooden display rack. Custom colour matching against a Pantone or physical swatch is also available.
8. What are the lead time and sample terms?
Stock colours ship in 7 to 15 days; custom colours and private label run 20 to 30 days after sample approval. Samples are available for qualified orders, and you are welcome to visit the factory or arrange a third-party inspection before shipment.
